Speakers from the field of paper conservation will present recent research findings and case studies, and participants will have an opportunity to discuss current topics and issues. A key focus is the innovative technology of microfading, which makes it possible to test the light resistance of particularly valuable and fragile artworks. The preservation of works on paper is of great interest to the collection of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation, which is stored and maintained at Schaulager. We are involved in numerous conservation projects. One recent project was the treatment of 384 drawings on transparent paper, which form part of the installation Bolero (Shoe Shine Blues) (1996-2007) by Francis Alÿs. We are excited to share the results of our research at the Interim Meeting and are delighted to host this ICOM-CC event at Schaulager.
The varied programme will be complemented by museum visits in and around Basel, along with a workshop and guided tours of Schaulager.
