The Schaulager reference library can be consulted by advance reservation for on-site research only.

The library’s holdings are fully searchable in the swissbib Basel Bern online database. The Schaulager library consists largely of publications directly related to works of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation, along with specialist periodicals, research literature and publications on art education and art technology.

Publications relating to art theory, philosophy and aesthetics can be found at the eikones library (Rheinsprung 11, Basel), which is supported and managed by Schaulager.

The orders will be available in the reading room the next working day for on-site use.
The public reading room offers WLAN-equipped work stations and allows researchers to work undisturbed in a concentrated environment.

Take-home loans are not permitted. A photocopier (with an optional scan function) may be used on location.
