Anri Salas «Ravel Ravel Interval»
Evening talk with Prof. Dr. Fabienne LiptayProfessor of Film Studies, University of Zurich
A huge hand flies effortlessly and in a masterful manner over the keyboard, closely followed and in places superimposed or even overtaken by a second hand playing the same piece of music. Sound and image enter into a fascinating reciprocal relationship in Anri Sala's grandiose installation. Two different interpretations of Maurice Ravel's piano concert Concerto pour la main gauche (1930) can be heard and are projected side by side as well as one behind the other. Visitors can walk in front of or between the two projections, thus immersing themselves in an experiential space designed by the artist.
