Protective Measures

Schaulager is accessible to visitors by prior appointment. We look forward to welcoming you again to our guided tours for children and young people (up to and including the year 2001), research visits and visits to the library and in the reading room. The health of our guests and employees is very important to us.

We therefore draw your particular attention to the fact that visitors, guests and service providers at Schaulager must wear a protective mask.

The following protective measures also apply:


General protective measures

  • Please adhere to the distance and hygiene rules communicated by the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG).
  • Disinfectant is available for visitors in the entrance area and in the toilets. We ask you to disinfect your hands when entering the building, before and after using the lockers in the cloakroom area, before and after using toilet rooms and before and after using the photocopier/scanner.
  • The Schaulager premises are cleaned regularly and surfaces are disinfected.
  • Wearing face masks is compulsory in all rooms.
  • Card payments or contactless payments are preferred.
  • We ask visitors who feel sick or have symptoms of COVID 19 to stay at home.
  • The supervisory staff is authorized to intervene in the case of risky behavior.

Protective measures for research visits and tours for children and young people

  • The maximum group size per tour is limited to comply with the 1.5 meters distancing
  • Our tours are designed so that the 1.5 meters distancing rule can as possible be observed at all time.
  • On the tours and research visits there is a mask requirement for visitors above 12 years and guides

Reading room/Library

  • Registration is required to visit the library.
  • Requested media must be ordered online in advance, via bibliothek@schaulager.org. The online catalogue can be consulted here
  • A maximum of 2 people may use the reading room at the same time.
  • Users of the reading room are required to wear a mask (may be removed while seated at a table if there is only one person in the room).
  • Doors, surfaces and tables in the library area are disinfected after each visit.
  • The staff kitchen is temporarily not accessible to visitors.
